How to open a password-protected Aadhaar or bank statement PDF
You download your e-Aadhaar or a bank statement, try to open it, and it asks for a password. This is normal. These files are locked so that only you can open them. Here is how to get in.
The e-Aadhaar password
The password for an e-Aadhaar PDF is made of two parts, joined together with no space:
- The first four letters of your name, in CAPITAL letters, as written on your Aadhaar.
- Your year of birth, in four digits.
For example, if the name is Suresh Kumar and the year of birth is 1990, the password is SURE1990.
If it does not work, check the spelling of your name exactly as it is on the Aadhaar card, and check you used the year, not the full date.
Bank statement passwords
Each bank uses its own rule. It is often a mix of your name, your date of birth or part of your customer ID. The email that came with the statement usually says what the password is. Read it again carefully, including the small print at the bottom.
Save a copy without the password
Some job portals and offices cannot accept a locked file. Once you know the password, you can save an open copy:
- Open Unlock PDF.
- Add your file and type the password.
- Download the copy. It will open without asking for a password.
This only works if you know the password. Luvkaam does not guess or break passwords. Only unlock files that are your own.
Keep it safe after
An open Aadhaar copy can be misused if it falls into the wrong hands. A few habits help:
- Share the open copy only where it is truly needed.
- Delete it from shared or office computers when you finish.
- When you email it, you can lock it again with your own password using Protect PDF, and send the password by SMS.
Your file stays with you
The unlocking happens on your own device. Your Aadhaar is not sent to Luvkaam.
