How to sign a PDF without printing it
Printing a form, signing it, scanning it and sending it back is a slow way to spend an evening. You can sign the PDF itself.
Steps
- Open Sign PDF.
- Choose the PDF you need to sign.
- Make your signature. Draw it with your finger or mouse, or type your name and pick a style.
- Press Use signature.
- Look at the page preview and tap the spot where the signature should go. Use the page buttons if it belongs on another page.
- Change the size if it looks too big or too small. You can also choose to place it on every page.
- Press Add signature and download the signed PDF.
Everything happens on your device. Your PDF and your signature are not uploaded.
Tips for a signature that looks right
- On a phone, turn it sideways to get more room to draw.
- Draw slowly. Fast lines come out shaky.
- If you do not like it, clear it and draw again. Nothing is saved until you press the button.
- Put the signature on the signature line, not over the printed text.
Will it be accepted?
Be careful here. This adds a picture of your signature to the page. It is not a digital signature with a certificate, and it does not prove who signed. Many offices, schools and companies accept it for ordinary forms. Banks, courts, government portals and property papers often do not. If a form says "digital signature" or "e-sign", ask what they accept first.
Mistakes to avoid
- Do not sign a document you have not read.
- Do not send a file with your signature on it to people you do not know. A signature picture can be copied.
- Keep the unsigned original.
The file got bigger
That is normal, but small. If the signed PDF is too big to email, run it through Compress PDF.
