1. Turn handwritten assignments into one PDF

Many teachers now ask for homework on Google Classroom or by email. If you wrote it on paper, your phone camera is enough.

  1. Take a clear photo of each page, straight from above, in daylight.
  2. Open Image to PDF and select all the photos at once.
  3. Check the page order, choose A4 and press Create PDF.

Our guide on making a PDF from multiple photos has tips for sharp, readable pages. If you typed your answers instead, paste them into Text to Word & PDF and save as PDF (use the Word option for Hindi text).

2. Join several files with Merge PDF

A project often has a cover page, the main work and a certificate, each in a different file. Most portals take only one file.

  1. Open Merge PDF and add all the files.
  2. Put them in order: cover first, then the rest.
  3. Press Merge files and download one PDF.

Added a page by mistake? Use Split PDF to keep only the pages you want.

3. Make the file small enough to upload

Phone photos are large, so a 10-page assignment can easily cross 10 MB. College portals and forms often allow much less.

  1. Open Compress PDF and add your file.
  2. Choose Balanced for most work. It keeps text easy to read.
  3. Download, then open the file once to check that every page is clear.

If the form names an exact limit, use a fixed-size page like Compress PDF to 1 MB or Compress PDF to 200 KB.

4. Resize your photo and signature for exam forms

Admission and exam forms ask for a photo and signature in an exact KB and pixel size. Getting it wrong is one of the most common reasons a form gets stuck.

  1. Read the size in your official notice first.
  2. Open the Photo & Signature Resizer, pick your exam or choose Custom and type the size.
  3. Add the picture, press Resize picture, check the final KB and download.

We have exam-wise guides for NEET, SSC and UPSC. For new exam and job notices, see our sister site SarkariPatra, and always follow the size written in the official notice.

5. Copy text from photos and scanned notes

Typing out a page from a textbook or a friend's notes takes a long time. OCR reads the words from a picture for you.

OCR is not perfect. Read the text once and fix any wrong letters, especially in handwriting.

6. Get the main points of a long PDF

Summarise PDF picks the most important sentences from a PDF so you can see what it covers before reading it fully. It does not write new text, so it does not make things up. Use it to revise or to decide which chapter to read first, not as a replacement for reading.

Other free tools worth knowing

  • Sign PDF: draw your signature on a form with your finger.
  • Rotate PDF: fix a page that came out sideways.
  • PDF to Word: get the text of a PDF into Word to edit it.
