NEET photo and signature size: how to get every file right
NEET photo size: a JPG of 10 KB to 200 KB with a white background, and NEET signature size: a JPG of 10 KB to 100 KB, as per the NEET (UG) 2026 bulletin. The form also takes a live photo of you with the camera, and you need printed postcard size photos for exam day.
This guide shows you how to make each file fit, using free tools on your phone.
NEET upload sizes at a glance
These come from the official NEET (UG) 2026 Information Bulletin by NTA:
- Passport size photo: JPG or JPEG, 10 KB to 200 KB.
- Signature: JPG or JPEG, 10 KB to 100 KB.
- Fingers and thumb impressions: JPG or JPEG (see the note below).
- Category, Class 10, address and other certificates: PDF, 50 KB to 300 KB.
- Postcard size photo (4 x 6 inch): a printed copy, not an upload. Keep a few prints ready.
For the finger and thumb impressions, the bulletin says 10 KB to 200 KB in one place and 50 KB to 300 KB in another. A file between 50 KB and 200 KB fits both, so aim for that.
NTA prints a new bulletin every year, and rules can change. Open the bulletin for your year on neet.nta.nic.in and check the "documents to be uploaded" part. If it says something different from this page, go by the bulletin.
What the photo should look like
- White background. Colour or black and white are both allowed.
- Your face should fill about 80% of the photo, with both ears showing and no mask.
- Glasses only if you wear them every day.
- The 2026 bulletin asked for a photo taken after 1 January 2026, so use a new photo, not an old one.
- No computer-made or edited photos. The bulletin says these can get the form rejected.
Step 1: Make your photo 10–200 KB
- Take a photo against a plain white wall in daylight, or scan a recent studio photo.
- Crop it so your face and the top of your shoulders fill most of the picture.
- Open the Photo & Signature Resizer.
- In "What is it for?", pick Custom size. Type 20 as the smallest size and 150 as the largest. This keeps you safely inside the 10–200 KB limit.
- Add your photo, press Resize and download it.
A quick choice also works: Resize image to 100 KB gives a file that fits the NEET photo rule.
Step 2: Make your signature 10–100 KB
- Sign on plain white paper with a black or dark blue pen.
- Take a photo from straight above in good light, and crop it so only the signature and a thin white border are left.
- In the Photo & Signature Resizer, pick Custom size again. Type 15 as the smallest and 80 as the largest.
- Download it and zoom in. The signature should be sharp and easy to read.
Step 3: Finger and thumb impressions
- Press each finger or thumb on a black or blue ink pad, then on white paper.
- Take a clear photo and crop it close.
- Resize with Custom size, smallest 60 and largest 180, so the file stays between 50 and 200 KB.
Step 4: Certificates as PDF, 50–300 KB
Scan each certificate to PDF. If a scan is too big, use Compress PDF to 300 KB. If it is under 50 KB, scan it again at a higher quality setting. If you only have photos of the pages, turn them into one PDF with JPG to PDF.
Step 5: The live photo
The form takes a photo of you with your camera, and matches it with your Aadhaar. If your computer has no webcam, the form shows a QR code you can scan with your phone. Sit in good light in front of a light wall, take off your mask and keep your face and ears in view.
Your files stay with you

Frequently asked questions
What is the NEET photo size in KB?
The NEET (UG) 2026 bulletin asks for a JPG or JPEG photo between 10 KB and 200 KB, with a white background.
What is the NEET signature size?
A JPG or JPEG file between 10 KB and 100 KB.
Do I upload the postcard size photo?
In the 2026 bulletin, no. The 4 x 6 inch postcard photo is a printed copy you keep and carry. You upload the passport size photo and also take a live photo in the form.
My photo is 2 MB. What do I do?
It is far too big. Use the Photo & Signature Resizer with Custom size (20 to 150 KB) and it will bring the file down.
Can I use my SSC or bank signature file for NEET?
Often yes, if it is a clear JPG between 10 and 100 KB. Check the size before uploading. For other forms, see our guide on photo and signature size for exam forms.
